Servo drive systems
For even more possible uses
Siemens is innovating the proven Sinamics S210 servo drive system with a new hardware architecture and a new software generation V6, thereby expanding the system's possible uses. The servo drive system is particularly suitable for applications with high dynamics in the power range between 50 W and 7 kW, such as in machines for packaging, pick & place applications or in digital printing.
To make it even easier to control individual axes in the future, the new generation of the Sinamics S210 comes with a second encoder interface and thus offers the option of connecting a direct measuring system to compensate for mechanical looseness and tolerances. This increases the precision significantly, making further applications possible. With the Basic and Extended Safety Integrated functions, the new Sinamics S210 ensures comprehensive implementation of the safety concept in the machine and meets the requirements of SIL3 (EN61508) and PL e (EN ISO 13849-1).
Another new feature of the system is the Security Integrated functions, which ensure greater security in industrial systems with user management and access protection. Also new: The Sinamics S210 now offers communication via EtherNet/IP in addition to Profinet IRT. This means that controls from third-party providers can now be connected to the servo system, which significantly increases the possible uses, especially in the US market. With the new 3C3 (H2S and SO2) coating, the new generation of Sinamics S210 is particularly robust against aggressive environmental influences such as sulfur gases. The servo system now also ensures high system availability and productivity under difficult manufacturing conditions, such as in the tire industry.
The Epos simple positioner is now also available as a technology function for the Sinamics S210. With this functional module, high-precision motion control positioning tasks can be implemented quickly and easily in the converter, as positioning tasks can be calculated directly in the drive, which reduces computing power in the control, which can instead calculate more complex tasks or a larger number of drive axes.
The new generation of the Sinamics S210 also enables simulation of motion control applications. Using the DriveSim Advanced simulation software, a digital twin of the Sinamics S210 can now be created in the TIA Portal. With this, the drive system can be put into operation virtually in advance and the engineering can be carried out. Requirements for the processes in the drive train can thus be met cost-effectively and efficiently. In addition, the digital twin offers the possibility of creating virtual training and demonstrations, as well as the possibility of optimizing real machines by solving problems in the drive train, which are simulated with the digital twin.
Tried and tested on the Sinamics S210 is the integrated web server, which has only been redesigned and thus supports the new web server platform and operating philosophy of the new Sinamics inverter generation such as the Sinamics S200 or Sinamics G220. The web server enables efficient commissioning, rapid diagnosis and maintenance of various devices such as tablets or PCs.
