Controls
Control without wiring
From tension control in coil winding machines to tension control in printing, film and cardboard processing machines to pressure filling in leak testing devices: If the air pressure needs to be continuously controlled depending on electrical signals, electro-pneumatic controllers are the first choice. Instead of setting up several controllers individually as usual and thus increasing the space requirement and the wiring effort, SMC has developed the IITV23 series: Up to four electro-pneumatic controllers can be stored together with a fieldbus module on a multiple connection plate - without external wiring. Users benefit, among other things, from the reduction in space requirements and the effort required for setup and maintenance, extensive yet simple control and high performance indicators.
Whether for the flow control of the liquid supply by pressurizing containers or the pressure control of drives: especially when several applications are running at the same time, continuously variable control of the air pressure is complex and takes up a lot of space. Because individual controllers don't just have to be set individually. Due to the separate wiring, they also require a lot of space.
With the new IITV23 series, SMC is bringing together up to four electro-pneumatic controllers and a fieldbus module on a multiple connection plate. Thanks to the internal wiring, there is significantly reduced installation and maintenance effort while maintaining a compact design. The (remote) control via a single fieldbus module with the Profinet protocol simplifies the setup and monitoring of the controllers. In addition, other external components can be controlled by using up to eight optional input/output/analog stations.
Easier, faster and more compact
While in the existing version the wiring of four electro-pneumatic controllers was done via four cables and two analog input/output units were required, both are eliminated in the IITV23 series. Instead of eight lines (4 x SUP, 4 x OUT), only five (1 x SUP, 4 x OUT) are required for the tubing. This not only shortens and simplifies the installation and maintenance effort, but also requires less space.
By accommodating up to four stations together with the fieldbus module on the same multiple connection plate, more compact and lighter machines can be constructed. Both the installation space and the width are 20 percent smaller compared to four individual controllers - the overall room volume is reduced by ten percent.
Easy and comprehensive controls
The up to four electro-pneumatic controllers can be controlled via the EX600 fieldbus module from SMC, which is also located on the multiple connection plate. This not only simplifies the setup of the controllers and makes them quicker to implement. The risk of setting errors is also reduced. While the I/O and diagnostic status can already be monitored via a web browser, the Profinet protocol also enables comprehensive control and parameterization.
Using the PLC, users can remotely adjust the set pressure, gain factor, sensitivity and cumulative operating time. The setting pressure range is 0 to 0.7 MPa (IITV234) or 0 to 0.9 MPa (IITV235). With a linearity of ±0.009 MPa (±1% F.S.) or less, a hysteresis of 0.0045 MPa (0.5% F.S.) or less, a repeatability of ±0.004 MPa (±0.5 % F.S.) or less and a sensitivity of ±0.2% F.S. or more, reliable stability and monitoring of the set pressure are ensured.
Many options for a comprehensive field of application
On the IITV23 series manifold, supply and exhaust are shared through one port and users can choose between direct mount and DIN rail mount with or without DIN rail. M12 / B-coded, 7/8-inch, or M12 IN/OUT / A-coded (4 or 5-pin) are optionally available for the end plate. The two, three or four connectable electro-pneumatic controllers have a 1-color (red), 3-digit 7-segment LED display that shows the output pressure. This also makes visual inspection possible directly on the machine.
In addition to its suitability for an ambient and media temperature of 0 to 50 °C (no condensation), the protection class IP65 means that the IITV23 series can also be used in moderate ambient conditions. If other external components are to be controlled, this can be done using up to eight optional input/output/analog stations.
