Servo drives
Easier integration
The updated Kollmorgen AKD2G servo drive features new communication protocols that enable easier integration with third-party controllers while providing industry-leading performance.
With the introduction of new functions, Kollmorgen is expanding its offering and now supports Profinet IRT and Ethernet/IP with CIP Sync in addition to the time-synchronized communication protocols CANopen, EtherCAT and FSoE. Each of these protocols has been tested with a variety of drive controllers and is certified to industry standards.
The AKD2G servo drive update enables synchronized movement of multiple drives using a variety of control architectures. Thanks to its flexibility and high
performance, the AKD2G is the ideal drive for applications that require high-precision coordination across multiple axes of motion.
The drive is also characterized by an outstanding power density in a compact housing and is easy to install - both the single and dual-axis versions. Developers can use the single-cable Smart Feedback Device (SFD) system or Hiperface DSL, or choose from a wide range of other feedback systems.
The drive also has an optional SafeMotion Monitor (SMM) extension with a safety level of SIL3/PLe to meet the functional safety requirements
to enable a wider range of applications.
“The AKD2G servo drive is an ideal option for automation developers and OEMs who want to actively optimize their designs. It offers higher performance, a smaller footprint and greater design flexibility,” says James Davison, senior VP/GM at Kollmorgen. “It is a system designed with our customers in mind, to make automation technology simpler, more efficient and more powerful.”
The AKD2G, in conjunction with the AKM2G motors, is part of Kollmorgen's 2G Motion System, a range of drive products designed to work perfectly together to ease setup and increase performance. Designers also benefit from the drive's compatibility with a wider range of controllers and feedback devices, as well as other motors.
