Material follows Function

Material follows Function

With an impressive variety of materials, Findling provides its customers with the perfect housing bearing for every application and every performance requirement. Whether robust gray cast iron, high-strength cast iron, lightweight plastic or corrosion-resistant stainless steel – the extensive portfolio of the Karlsruhe rolling bearing specialists always offers a suitable solution.

Housing bearings consist of a bearing insert and a bearing housing, which can be combined in almost any way. This flexibility, combined with the large selection of housing materials at Findling Wälzlager, guarantees that the right model is available for every application and every performance requirement. "The application determines which material should be used," says Managing Director Klaus Findling. "For example, gray cast iron has many superior properties as a material for machine parts, but is susceptible to shock loads. This is where our application engineers come in, who use their experience and expertise to help with the selection of materials."

A material for every challenge

In addition to gray cast iron, Findling's range also includes bearing housings made of high-strength cast iron or cast steel (EN-GJS-400/450/500), which impresses with its increased resistance to fracture. With housing bearings made of this material, load ratings of up to 41.5 kN can be achieved on a 40 mm shaft - depending on the series.

For applications where weight plays a decisive role, fiber-reinforced plastic (PA) offers an excellent alternative. This material is not only light, but also has excellent corrosion resistance. In addition, chemical resistance and other specific properties can be generated by adding various additives.

Galvanized sheet steel and stainless steel are used where corrosion resistance and/or hygiene are crucial. This is the case in the food industry, in pharmaceuticals, in medical applications, in the automotive sector or in offshore wind turbines, among others.

If, in addition to corrosion resistance, small installation dimensions and low weight are required, housing bearings made of die-cast aluminum offer a reliable and uncomplicated solution. They have proven themselves in the food and packaging industry, aerospace, printing machines and agricultural technology, among others.

Findling Wälzlager – partner for individual solutions

The application engineers at Findling Wälzlager are on hand to offer customers advice and support. They analyze the specific requirements and suggest the optimal material combinations. This results in tailor-made housing bearings that are perfectly suited to the individual application. "With the combination of material diversity and well-founded advice, we at Findling Wälzlager are setting standards in the field of housing bearings," explains Klaus Findling. "Our customers benefit from long-lasting, high-performance and perfectly adapted solutions that function reliably even under extreme conditions."
