Lifting equipment
Move loads up to one ton
Columbus McKinnon Corporation (CMCO), a leading manufacturer of material handling solutions, has further expanded its portfolio of hoists and launched the first battery-powered chain hoist under the Yale brand. The portable Yale BatteryStar does not require a power connection. It enables variable speeds to move and position heavy loads of up to one ton quickly, flexibly and precisely at any point without power.
Ready for use anywhere in just a few minutes
BatteryStar is used in industry, material flow, logistics, on construction sites, in assembly and maintenance, and also in the entertainment sector. It can either be used with a lifting accessory attached to the load (hanger, loop or eyelet) or it can pull the load up by itself. The chain hoist delivers a lifting force for loads of up to one tonne and a lifting height of 6 m, e.g. for outdoor work without access to a power supply.
The BatteryStar is compact and lightweight. Weighing less than 20 kg including the galvanized 6 m chain, it can be easily and flexibly transported to the desired location and put into operation immediately. The lifting speed of 2.4 m/min increases the operator's efficiency fourfold compared to manual hoists. It can also be used to pull loads horizontally by attaching the chain hoist to an anchor point.
Remote control with smart features for safety
The BatteryStar is designed with safety and ease of use in mind – it is completely wireless. Its EMC-certified remote control, with a range of up to 20 m, allows the operator to always stay a safe distance from the load, without the restrictions of a control cable. It features an intelligent display of the device's battery level, indicates overload or overheating, and signals when an inspection of the hoist is due. In addition, a mechanical brake also ensures safe operation. Inspection windows on the top and bottom of the hoist allow the operator to easily check the wear on the brakes, thus facilitating maintenance.
Long service life even in harsh conditions
An electronic clutch and the mechanical secondary clutch provide double protection against hoist overload. The BatteryStar owes its long service life to the brushless DC motor, the integrated limit switches (up, down), the slip clutch and the IP55-rated electronic protection.
The chain hoist is equipped with Milwaukee Tool's industry-leading M18 Red Lithium battery. This easy-to-use, weather-protected battery was designed for mobile use in harsh industrial environments. Even under full load, its capacity (12 Ah) supports operation for travel distances of up to 55 m, and of course correspondingly more at lower loads.
