Controller
Taking miniaturization further – one for all
With the MC 3001, Faulhaber has brought a motion controller to market that is only the size of a postage stamp, but is very powerful with 1.7 A in continuous operation and up to 5 A peak current. In order to use the miniaturized OEM product in the power range up to 120 watts for industrial automation, Jung Antriebstechnik und Automation GmbH (JA²) has now developed a solution based on the small controller that is suitable for control cabinet installation and features a robust housing and connection system.
The new QuickPos positioning controller MCB 01, which is 45 mm wide, 78 mm deep and 44 mm high (Fig. 1), can be easily snapped onto DIN rails and connected using pre-assembled servo cables that are up to 10 m long and suitable for dragging. It is suitable for precise motor control of the linear mechatronic automation systems QuickLab and QuickDynamic as well as for the ForTorque swivel rotary modules of the same manufacturer (Fig. 2), but can also be used for the linear motors and brushless DC motors from Faulhaber. A DC bus voltage of 24 VDC is provided, so the small controller can be supplied directly from the 24 V control cabinet supply.
Freely programmable sequence programs
The positioning controller for control cabinet installation offers three digital and two analog inputs as well as two digital outputs. The DIN rail controller is freely programmable and can work in field bus systems or autonomously. Sequence programs can be freely programmed in accordance with CiA 402. The Faulhaber Motion Manager, predefined program modules and example programs support programming and parameterization. A USB micro interface is available for communication with a PC or laptop. Communication with the PLC is possible (switchable) via CANopen (CiA 402) or RS232.
