An SPN spur gear and planetary gearbox combination supports earth drilling work

Together with its customer, SPN has developed a four-stage gearbox for a drill driver application for earthworks. It consists of a drive spur gear stage and a three-stage planetary gearbox. The gearbox ensures effective transmission of the motor power to the tool that drives in the earth anchors. This enables the tool to work in hard ground or where there is resistance from roots or stones without overloading the motor. Efficient power transmission and optimum speed adjustment allow the device to work more energy-efficiently. A compact design increases mobility and flexibility on the construction site and facilitates access to hard-to-reach areas.

The switchable multi-stage SPN helical gearbox for precise maintenance work

The end product is a versatile portable drill. The use of state-of-the-art servo motors and a user-optimized control interface enable simple and safe machining.

Different jobs such as drilling or facing require different speeds and torques. A gearbox enables precise adjustment of these parameters to meet the specific requirements of each task. . This allows you to switch between drilling with high speeds but lower torque and for face turning at low speed at higher torque. The multi-stage gearbox allows you to switch between different ratios. This is particularly useful when different jobs are to be carried out on one machine.

Keeping track with SPN-Drive Monitoring

A central exhibit at the SPS is a gearbox solution including a contactless torque sensor.

Details:

With this exhibit, SPN will show visitors at SPS an innovative solution for precise, cost-efficient torque monitoring in gearboxes with an interactive, understandable and clear model that can be tried out directly on site.

In addition, a monitored drive train in suitcase format will be on site, which has an extremely compact design of the torque sensor for shafts with a ø15mm, enables precise torque detection even with rotating shafts and innovative, wireless sensor nodes with minimal installation effort and no need for physical connection cables. The Sonsor reliably measures temperatures and gearbox vibrations. The sensor data is sent directly and wirelessly to the cloud. The sensor nodes work autonomously and do not require permanent maintenance. They are energy-saving and environmentally friendly (2 years runtime and then rechargeable)

Ongoing analysis of the measured values enables real-time data processing with direct feedback on system performance Various analysis algorithms provide insight into the health of the gearbox. Users receive immediate evaluation and diagnostics on system integrity via a website provided by SPN, accessible at any time and from anywhere

This means that potential faults in the process or drive can be identified at an early stage.
