Efficiently automate acceptance and run-in tests
With the new SpindleServiceTool (SST) from Sieb & Meyer, spindle manufacturers and repairers can optimize their quality management and save time and money. Testing and running-in processes for spindles are significantly simplified. The automation solution, which is as efficient as it is flexible, now complements the drivemaster4 parameterization software from the Lüneburg high-speed specialists.
Frequency converters from the SD4x family from Sieb & Meyer are successfully used in numerous series products, such as lathes and grinding machines. In addition, they are often used internally by the manufacturers of the machining spindles. The spindles usually undergo a final acceptance test during the production process or after a repair. They are exposed to various speed cycles over several hours in order to guarantee smooth operation under real conditions. This test plays a dual role, especially with ball-bearing spindles: In addition to proving quality, it serves to ensure a defined running-in process for the new ball bearings.
Flexible and scalable test operation
In order to automate these test processes, spindle manufacturers previously had to develop complex test setups with external controls or PLCs - a time-consuming and costly process. With the SST, Sieb & Meyer now offers a straightforward solution for frequency converters from the SD4x family that saves both time and resources. The PC software makes it possible to control up to four frequency converters in parallel, create individual speed cycles and run them automatically. This makes external control elements superfluous and increases the flexibility and scalability of the test operation.
The new SpindleServiceTool is available to customers free of charge in addition to the drivemaster 4 parameterization software. "With SST, we offer spindle manufacturers and repairers an innovative automation solution that significantly simplifies the testing and running-in process of machining spindles and at the same time increases flexibility and efficiency," explains Sieb & Meyer Managing Director Torsten Blankenburg. "By operating several frequency converters in parallel, test capacities can be easily increased."
