Clamping technology
The 3-jaw power chuck for the digital factory
SMW-Autoblok now also enables automatic quick jaw changes for power chucks. The KNCS-matic chuck can be quickly and precisely converted by a loading robot using a notching pin. With this automatable power chuck, SMW-Autoblok meets current clamping technology requirements and prepares them for the digital factory.
The KNCS-matic is the latest clamping system in SMW-Autoblok's KNCS power chuck family. It enables automatic quick jaw changes using a conventional industrial robot. This robot releases the base jaws with a notching pin, replaces them, and then re-locks the next jaws with the pin. Through interaction with industrial robots, the KNCS-matic achieves short setup times, ensuring secure workpiece clamping with high centering and repeat accuracy. Users can thus economically handle the increasing variety of components without compromising precision and manufacturing quality.
Wide Machining Spectrum
The KNCS-matic 3-jaw power chuck is available in six sizes and, depending on the size, achieves a total clamping force of 100 to 250 kN. The chuck can be used for a wide range of machining applications, as its jaws can be offset or reversed, allowing a stroke of 7 to 10 mm per jaw. Furthermore, it features a large through-hole of 52 to 165 mm, typical of the KNCS series. With speeds from 1,700 to 6,000 rpm, the KNCS-matic ensures high machining speeds with consistently high precision. The proven Proofline seal from SMW-Autoblok makes the power chuck low-maintenance. It can be individually adapted to specific machining requirements with extensive accessories such as various jaws, an axial stop, and a water flush.
Fully automated quick jaw change from a single source
With automatable clamping devices, SMW-Autoblok accompanies workpiece machining on its journey to the digital factory. Together with SMW-electronics, the company is able to equip the process with a fully automated quick jaw change. The jaws of the KNCS-matic can then be changed using the MX-S mechatronic gripper from the Motiact product line. An inductive coupling system such as the F100 enables contactless transmission of power and signals between the robot arm and gripper and enables 360-degree rotation in both directions for easy jaw changes.
