Motor starters and motor protection switches with snap-in connection technology
Schneider Electric introduces the new TeSys Snap-In series of motor starters and motor protection switches with tool-free, intuitive connection terminals. The new TeSys Snap-In series with tool-free connection terminals can be wired in seconds, saving up to six* minutes per motor starter or motor protection switch.
Electrical connection without tools
According to Schneider Electric, the new snap-in terminals enable the electrical connection of a motor starter or motor protection switch to be completed under optimal conditions within two seconds per conductor without any tools, making it up to 96 percent* faster than conventional connections. According to the manufacturer, this can save up to six minutes* of installation time for a motor starter with 12 contacts. Another advantage is that there is no need for regular retightening, which is mandatory with screw terminals. This is because the spring-based terminals in the TeSys Snap-In series do not come loose even under severe vibrations, e.g., when used in construction machinery. The TeSys Snap-In motor starters and motor protection switches from global market leader Schneider Electric also have the highest switching frequency on the market, making them particularly durable and sustainable.
The snap-in connection terminals are visible from the front and designed to close with a click when the conductor is fully inserted. This ensures that even less experienced employees or those working in confined spaces can be sure that the conductor has been inserted correctly and that there is optimum contact. The tool-free connection technology with acoustic and haptic feedback also allows TeSys Snap-In components to be wired quickly and reliably by robots in automated control cabinet construction. With conventional connection systems, this is only possible at a significantly slower rate and with a higher risk of errors due to frequent tool changes and a lack of feedback when the conductor is inserted correctly. Once the terminal is closed, a button moves forward and must be pressed to release the conductor. Unlike conventional terminals, flexible and rigid conductors can be inserted directly without wire end ferrules and with a secure contact. Additional openings on the front of the terminals allow test probes to be inserted for testing purposes.
The TeSys Snap-In motor starters and motor protection switches, as well as other Snap-In products, will be available from June 2025. Further information on the Snap-In system is available on the Schneider Electric website:
* The time and percentage figures stated here and determined by Schneider Electric refer, according to Schneider Electric, to a comparison between TeSys Snap-In and screw terminals. Compared to spring systems or push-in solutions, the time advantage is lower according to the manufacturer's statement, but still considerable.
