It also works without programming

SEW-Eurodrive introduces the MotionGateway application for the Movi-C UHX25A controller. This enables intuitive and quick implementation of solutions for controlling inverters from the Movi-C automation system.

Even without specialized programming knowledge, the MotionGateway application allows drive systems to be parameterized intuitively and commissioned quickly. Unlike with free programming, no complex programming environment is required; instead, only the drive trains are parameterized. The MotionGateway can significantly reduce automation costs. It is particularly suitable for packaging machines, product transport systems, product grouping and sorting systems, and portals or gantry systems.

Commissioning is carried out through simple parameterization using the MoviSuite engineering software. It supports MoviKit software functions for speed, positioning, and electronic gearing. The MotionGateway can be controlled via Profinet and can address up to eight lower-level axes via the EtherCAT protocol. The individual axes are addressed directly on the inverter without the need for a PC or additional software – e.g., via the EtherCAT protocol. via address switches or the display unit.

With the innovative MoviLink DDI motor interface, the inverter automatically detects all relevant motor data – quickly, precisely, and entirely without manual intervention. This saves significant time by enabling automatic identification and commissioning of the drive. Two virtual master axes are available, to which the remaining axes can be synchronized with precise phase synchronization, i.e., without differing signal propagation times.

In addition, the integrated MoviKit EncoderInterface software module supports up to two external encoders. For easy commissioning and troubleshooting, the application also offers a web-based interface, which can be accessed via browser – even remotely – or via mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones. This interface enables operation, monitoring, recording, diagnostic, and service functions. These hardware- and software-independent tools are already part of the MotionGateway.

The MotionGateway concept is rounded off by data management for backup and restore functionality. This means that configuration parameters can be automatically transferred from the Movi-C controller to the frequency converter when the device is replaced.
