More torque with the same size

Nord Drivesystems is a system provider of innovative, customized drive solutions from a comprehensive modular product range for over 100 industries. The drive experts have recently optimized the performance of their block worm gear units, eliminating the need to upgrade to the next size depending on the application. Reduced wear increases the operational reliability and service life of the gear units.

Nord has increased the maximum torque of its block worm gear units. The Nord development team achieved a performance increase of 10 to 15 percent – ​​without changing the external connection dimensions or the appearance of the gear units. This reliable and economical drive solution offers higher performance without the need to adapt existing customer configurations. Since the housing sizes remain unchanged, the worm gear units are still available as a drop-in solution for maintenance or repairs. To save costs and space, smaller sizes can be selected depending on the application, resulting in greater design flexibility in machine and system design.

A masterpiece of engineering

The (connection) dimensions have not changed, but to achieve higher power ranges, Nord has integrated new worm shafts with larger bearing seats and additional reinforcement of the worm wheel itself. The current block worm gear unit series offers a power range from 0.12 kW to 15 kW and torques between 90 Nm and 3,000 Nm. Further product advantages include smooth and quiet operation, high overload capacity, and robust construction. High axial and radial loads ensure high (operational) reliability and a long service life.

Nords's block worm gear units in gray cast iron housings are available in application-specific designs: as hollow and solid shaft gear units, as well as for shaft, flange, or foot mounting. The company's electric motors can be integrated into the system. Motor mounting via an IEC/NEMA adapter is also possible.
