Drive solutions for processes in the food and beverage industry must also be resistant to cleaning agents, as they are frequently cleaned and disinfected due to the high hygiene standards. Stainless steel is the preferred material in wash-down areas, but it has significant disadvantages in drive technology applications. The NXD tupH surface finish developed by NORD makes aluminum an attractive alternative for applications in the Food & Beverage industry: It makes the surfaces of drive components such as gear units, smooth-surface motors, and frequency inverters resistant to harsh environmental influences – the NXD tupH variant also resistant to aggressive cleaning agents, chemicals, acids, and alkalis. Aluminum drives are also significantly lighter and run cooler.

Long-lasting finishing of aluminum surfaces with NXD tupH

NXD tupH is especially suitable for applications requiring food-grade surfaces. The finished aluminum surfaces can withstand regular cleaning and disinfection for a long time. The finishing process is carried out in two steps: In the first step, the upper layer of the aluminum body is converted into a corrosion-resistant, hard layer. In the second step, a sealer is applied, which achieves high resistance to chemicals. NXD tupH surfaces are PFAS-free and food-grade compliant according to the FDA, EU Regulation 1935/2004, and the regulations of Switzerland and the Mercosur countries. They can therefore be used in hygiene-critical areas in the food, beverage, and packaging industries, as well as in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
