Motors
Dynamism and high torque in one
Motor specialist Baumüller presents three new motor types and positions itself as a highly adaptable drive partner with its comprehensive motor construction kit.
As a special highlight, Baumüller provides information about the option of equipping its motors with liquid cooling. Baumüller offers the possibility of increasing the power density of its servo motors, torque motors, and main drives by cooling them with water or oil.
Liquid cooling of electric motors is implemented either through channels in the stator or in a special jacket in the motor housing. Due to their high power density, liquid-cooled motors can often be smaller than air-cooled motors. This reduces the installation space and increases dynamics, allowing cycle times to be reduced. In addition, motors with this particularly efficient cooling method can be operated with high torques. Applications that require both high dynamics and high torque, such as machine tools, presses, forming technology, and injection molding machines, therefore benefit particularly from this option.
The new motor series that Baumüller will be presenting at SPS, the DSC2 servo motors for applications with high torque requirements, the DST3 torque motors, e.g., for servo presses and plastic machines, and the versatile DS4 main drives, are also available in liquid-cooled versions
