Clamping technology
Easily fix narrow components
KBK Antriebstechnik is expanding its product range with side clamping sets for attaching very narrow components to the shaft. The clamping elements are available in various designs and series. They are ideally suited for mounting brakes or fan wheels.
Designers can choose from a wide variety of internal and external clamping sets at KBK. However, some applications cannot be realized with the existing product range: "These were applications where a component with a thin wall thickness needs to be attached to the shaft," explains KBK Managing Director Sven Karpstein. "Narrow components do not offer enough surface area for our standard clamping elements." With the new side clamping sets, however, mounting thin-walled components is very easy.
The side clamping sets are based on the shrink disc principle and are available in three series: KBS12, KBS22, and KBS23. The KBS12 side clamping set transmits torques from 20 Nm to 15,800 Nm and is suitable for shaft diameters from 9 mm to 100 mm. The KBS22 series can transmit torques from 70 Nm to 1540 Nm to shafts with diameters from 11 mm to 60 mm. The KBS23 side clamping set is designed for applications with torques between 1400 Nm and 149,400 Nm. It can be mounted on shafts with diameters from 40 mm to 220 mm.
Each clamping set series is available in four versions: with and without centering, and with a through hole or thread. The clamping sets are available in steel, stainless steel, or with a chemical nickel plating and are self-centering.
