Economy drive solution – complete and with an extended power range

Beckhoff’s Economy Drive System is a harmonized platform comprising servomotors, servo amplifiers, and frequency inverters. This enables compact, cost-efficient machine concepts while ensuring full integration into the world of PC-based Control. Thanks to an expanded power range, as well as new external braking resistors and mains filters, the system unlocks even greater application potential.

The AX1000 Economy servo amplifier has been expanded to include an additional 12 A three-phase variant. It now covers a rated current range of 3.4 to 12 A, while remaining available in the single-phase range with current ratings from 1.65 to 6.9 A. Its high power density is particularly noteworthy: the power supply unit, DC link capacitors, and ballast circuit are fully integrated, despite the extremely compact dimensions. The housing is constructed from robust plastic, which reduces both weight and material costs. Within the control cabinet, the devices can be mounted side-by-side without requiring any minimum spacing between amplifiers.

The AF1000 Economy frequency inverter is also available in a new 5.5 kW three-phase variant, serving as a cost-optimized solution for simple drive tasks such as conveyor drives, pumps, or fans. The series covers a power range of 0.37 to 1.5 kW with single-phase input, and 0.75 to 5.5 kW with three-phase input. It offers a scalable solution for a wide range of applications—featuring not only the single-axis units typical of this segment, but also highly cost-efficient dual-axis devices.

As a comprehensive provider of system components, Beckhoff also supplies matching accessories—such as external braking resistors and mains filters—for the Economy Drive System. The AX2090-BW10-xxxx braking resistors are available in various versions for devices with single- and three-phase power supply, as well as different power ratings. This ensures optimal adaptation of the braking resistors to the specific application. Furthermore, the high-quality AX2090-NF1x-xxxx mains filters ensure excellent interference suppression for the Economy devices. When combined, these components meet industrial standards up to Category C2 in accordance with EN 61800-3.
