Bosch Rexroth has introduced a new Hägglunds drive unit specially developed for rubber machines. It significantly reduces energy consumption and thus lowers CO2 emissions in daily operation. The pre-assembled and tested drive units are connected to the shaft in any position, just like an electromechanical drive. Six sizes cover all common mill sizes.
The new drive unit provides the necessary torques for the production of rubber compounds as required and limits the electrically installed power to the necessary level. For this purpose, the developers have combined a servo motor with a hydrostatic transmission. The adjustable axial piston pump in combination with a radial piston motor serves as an automatic, continuously variable transmission. The frequency converter reduces the speed of the servo motor to zero as needed. In this way, the drive makes a significant contribution to energy management for users in accordance with DIN 50001 and thus to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Bosch Rexroth pre-assembles the drive unit in six sizes and delivers it tested as a plug-and-play solution. Commissioning is the same as for an electromechanical drive. The unit is simply connected to the shaft in any position. The two-channel safety circuit exceeds the specifications of DIN 1417 and sets new standards in cut-off response. Without wear, the rollers are brought to a standstill with a braking angle of only six degrees.
The drive unit is maintenance-free and monitors itself. It independently maintains the optimum operating points for mixing. The drive is very quiet during the mixing process. The average noise emission is well below 80 dB(A).
Hägglunds drive technology in a new look
The advantages of Hägglunds hydraulic drive systems are reflected in a striking redesign that makes the Hägglunds brand even more visible within Rexroth. The change connects the present with a significant past, but is focused on the future - and above all on creating more clarity for customers.
"Our drives are constantly being developed further. The new look is another step," says Wolfram Ulrich. "Customers will find familiar elements in the new design, for example the distinctive red colour of Hägglunds engines. The Hägglunds lettering has become sleeker and more dynamic."
Hägglunds drive solutions are and will remain part of Rexroth's offering. "Hägglunds solutions have undeniable strengths and a dedicated team behind them, which is why the brand continues to be well received by customers," says Tobias Brummer, Head of Brand Management and Brand Communications at Bosch Rexroth. "The clearer positioning of the Hägglunds brand is a win-win, as it highlights these aspects and opens the door to all Rexroth offers."
