Energy efficiency
Simplify power monitoring
Emerson's Energy Manager simplifies power monitoring by tracking power usage in real time, identifying opportunities to minimize waste and reduce emissions by up to 30%.
Emerson has launched the new Energy Manager solution, a pre-built hardware and software offering that simplifies industrial power monitoring with quick setup and intuitive operation. Ready to use, Energy Manager monitors equipment energy usage in real time, enabling manufacturers to gain deeper insights into energy usage and operating costs, reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and optimize energy and operational efficiency.
Most manufacturers, including original equipment manufacturers and industrial companies, consumer goods manufacturers, and food and beverage manufacturers, are under increasing pressure to increase productivity while reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. However, industrial machines are very energy hungry and consume a lot of power even when idle. Operators therefore need the best possible insight into their plants' energy consumption to avoid waste and inefficiencies and better achieve their efficiency and sustainability goals.
Emerson's Energy Manager solution provides real-time energy measurements so operations managers can quickly view detailed values and identify savings opportunities, such as idle consumption and peak loads. The software's user-friendly dashboard shows plant-specific energy consumption, associated costs and carbon emissions for up to 10 endpoints (expandable to 50 endpoints with a license).
This high level of visibility enables companies to better identify idle machines and optimize machine schedules during off-peak times, reducing power consumption across the plant and significantly reducing overall utility costs. Most plants can reduce energy waste by 10-30% and carbon emissions by 15-30%.
The Energy Manager solution is highly scalable, easily integrates with new or existing energy meters, and offers easy commissioning and a quick return on investment. The software is available either pre-installed on edge hardware such as the PACSystemTM RXi2-BP industrial PC or as a standalone application that can be installed in a virtualized environment.
"Reliable and accurate monitoring of energy costs and emissions is increasingly invaluable for companies," said Eugenio Silva, product manager for intelligent automation at Emerson's Discrete Automation business unit. "Our new Energy Manager solution provides operators, facility managers and sustainability teams with a better overview and deeper understanding of energy consumption and operating costs at all times. This can improve the position of companies to pursue and achieve their goals, comply with regulations and reliably reduce environmental impact."
For more comprehensive monitoring of media and assets, the Energy Manager can be combined with the Emerson Compressed Air Manager to provide an optimized overview of the energy costs and compressed air consumption of machines in a production line, plant or site.
