Perfectly handle sensitive electronics – with the new HT1-ESD suction gripper material from Schmalz. This material solves several critical problems in electronics manufacturing simultaneously: It leaves virtually no marks on components, provides reliable protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD), and withstands temperatures up to 170 degrees Celsius.

A tiny fingerprint on a semiconductor wafer, a barely perceptible electrostatic discharge, conductive carbon black that can release particles. The result: costly production errors or contamination. Until now, manufacturers had to compromise. Schmalz now combines all these requirements in the new HT1-ESD suction gripper material.

This high-performance material combines the properties of the two already proven materials HT1 and NBR-ESD. The HT1 component ensures low-mark handling, as it leaves only minimal chemical residues on components. At the same time, it withstands heat up to 170 degrees Celsius without losing its mechanical or chemical properties. Its high ozone resistance and wear resistance significantly extend the service life of the suction grippers. Cracks or material degradation do not occur, thus ensuring operational reliability.

Without critical additives

Schmalz enhances user benefits through the material composition: Thanks to NBR-ESD, the HT1-ESD suction gripper material requires no external coatings or conductive carbon black. These conductive additives can detach with wear, impairing ESD protection, contaminating the process, and leading to yield losses. Electronics manufacturers benefit from the clean surfaces of the new HT1-ESD material, significantly reducing rejects. Maintenance and downtime are reduced, and machine availability increases.

Thanks to minimized marks and maximized ESD protection, the HT1-ESD suction grippers are suitable for a variety of applications in electronics manufacturing: from household appliances and consumer electronics to semiconductor manufacturing and final assembly. To accommodate all workpieces, Schmalz offers the suction grippers in various designs.
