Extremely compact and powerful

The DSC2 servomotors from Baumüller are the next generation for applications requiring high torque density. This series is characterized by its low weight and minimal dimensions. Among other things, the overall length has been reduced, making the DSC2 even more compact with the same performance.

"Our development achieved an excellent combination of overall length and flexibility with maximum torque density. The efficiency of the motor increased to approx. 94 percent," reports Markus Keila, Senior Product Manager Motors at Baumüller.

As already known from the DSC1 product family, the DSC2 motors are scalable and adaptable to customer requirements. They cover a speed range from 1,000 to 5,000 rpm. Numerous encoder options, cooling variants, optional brakes, various coordinated gearbox variants and many other options also ensure that the DSC2 is perfectly matched to the respective area of application. The engine also has a low CO2 footprint. The reason for this is the reduced use of materials thanks to the very compact design.

One variant of the DSC2 motor is particularly suitable for applications with low speeds and high torque requirements. Compared to other servo motors on the market, the DSC2 motor is up to 15 percent more compact.

Cross-industry solution

Thanks to their smooth design, simplified installation and high degree of protection, DSC2 motors are suitable for applications of all kinds, for example in the printing, plastics, textile, robotics and packaging industries. The low weight and minimal dimensions make the DSC2 a good solution for moving axes. The minimal detent torque ensures precise positioning and high control quality. The advantage: The precision in the process is increased.

The most compact version of the DSC2 is made possible by the water cooling concept. Active cooling increases the power density. In addition, several servomotors can be installed close together without any problems due to the good heat dissipation. This saves space in the machine and is a particular advantage for applications with many axes.
