100,000 hours of uninterrupted operation is a remarkable achievement for micro diaphragm gas pumps. This equates to more than 11 years of continuous operation in a controlled environment, exceeding the requirements of most real-world applications. This milestone underscores KNF’s engineering expertise and the reliability of every single pump. Reliability put to the test: A closer look at the 100,000-hour service life test

KNF routinely conducts long-term tests on diaphragm pumps under demanding conditions. This allows the company to gain insights into reliability under real-world operating conditions and provide customers with dependable information regarding service life. The goal of this test was simple: How long would the NMP 850.1.2 diaphragm gas pump remain functional at a defined operating point? Two groups of five pumps each were installed in a KNF test laboratory and operated continuously. To create a highly demanding environment, the pumps were subjected to the following conditions:

  • 40°C ambient temperature (maximum permissible value for this pump type)
  • 40–60% humidity
  • 0.5 bar gauge pressure
  • Vibrations caused by other pumps installed in the test setup

Despite these elevated stress levels, the pumps continued to operate reliably even after exceeding 100,000 hours of service, without requiring any maintenance or component replacement. This result provides valuable insights into long-term durability under defined operating conditions.
