Precise, reliable control

Modern industrial processes demand precise, reliable control and future-proof digital communication. Bürkert's SideControl electropneumatic positioner and process controller series for valves, thanks to IO-Link, makes systems ready for Industry 4.0. At the same time, these robust, manufacturer-independent devices save energy, as the dynamic positioning system consumes no compressed air when in its regulated state.

In addition to the trending topics of energy efficiency and digitalization, the process industry has a long-standing demand for robust components, flexibility, and manufacturer independence. The SideControl digital electropneumatic positioner from Bürkert addresses all these needs. It can now also be adapted to third-party valves via direct mounting or NAMUR mounting (Figure 1). The positioner offers precise control and monitoring, which increases process quality and safety.

Thanks to IO-Link (Port Class A or B), it allows for easy retrofitting of existing systems. Product variants (position and process controllers) with EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP-V1, or Bürkert Systembus (büS) are also available. For confined spaces at the valve or high ambient temperatures, the remote product variant with a separate position sensor is ideal. The dynamic positioning system consumes no compressed air when in its regulated state, saving energy and costs.

Retrofitting made easy

The position controller can be retrofitted without altering the actual fluidic process, minimizing downtime. Functions for automatic teaching of the control process (X.TUNE) simplify commissioning. The compact, robust design allows for easy installation even in tight spaces and harsh environments. Integrated diagnostic functions ensure reliable valve monitoring. Furthermore, digitalization enables the integration of process data into higher-level systems, for example, for process analysis and optimization. This provides future-proofing, increased efficiency, and thus energy and cost savings. The position and process controllers fit all rotary and linear actuators that comply with NAMUR standards (according to IEC 60534-6-1 and VDI/VDE 3845 or IEC 60534-6-2) and are therefore fully compatible with most common actuators.
