Automation experts at Omron are introducing the new, high-performance DX1 Data Flow Controller. This first edge controller for industrial applications simplifies the collection and utilization of production data.

Designed for seamless integration with the Sysmac automation platform, the DX1 can collect, analyze, and visualize operational data from sensors, controllers, and other technologies directly on the production line. It enables device-consistent configuration without programming, eliminating the need for additional programs or software and simplifying data-driven manufacturing. This helps companies improve their overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and transition to the IoT.

With its ease of use and connectivity, the DX1 helps address many data utilization challenges in industrial environments. Ready-to-use templates and an intuitive flow editor allow users to quickly create and manage data flows without programming knowledge. At the same time, improved compatibility with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) from various manufacturers* enables the DX1 to be retrofitted to existing systems. Quick and easy entry into the use of manufacturing data

The DX1 Data Flow Controller makes data use simple and accessible. It comes standard with middleware for data preparation and analysis (SpeeDBee Synapse from Saltyster Inc.). The DX1 allows devices to be connected to existing systems simply by connecting them with Ethernet cables. No special software for sensors and controllers is required for data acquisition.

The user interface ensures efficient traceability of data processing workflows and enables companies to quickly and effectively utilize their data. Users can intuitively create workflows for collecting, analyzing, and sending data by simply connecting on-screen processing blocks to lines.

From templates to customization: versatile functionality for diverse scenarios

The DX1 comes with standard packages containing templates for key indicator data used in plant monitoring, operational status control, production monitoring, and much more. The data can be displayed in a multi-level structure to meet the needs of a wide range of users, from production managers to field staff, allowing for drill-down analysis. From the production planning targets of the respective site to the operational status of the equipment, the DX1 can be used to track data acquisition. It can also be customized to the site environment using Python and C to enable connectivity with third-party controllers or complex calculations.

Implementation without downtime

The new DX1 from Omron supports programmable logic controllers (PLCs) from various manufacturers. This allows data acquisition to begin immediately without interrupting production or replacing existing hardware or software, even when using PLCs from other manufacturers. The DX1 can also be retrofitted into existing systems without interrupting production for data acquisition. The IO-Link master allows for easy connection of measuring and acquisition devices, enabling companies to directly retrieve data from various sensors and cameras.
