Improve adaptability and performance

Parker Hannifin has expanded its range of standalone and multi-axis Parker servo drives (PSD) with a new I/O option card. This versatile option card, which can accommodate one or two cards per drive, offers a range of technical features that enhance the adaptability and performance of the entire PSD family.

From motion control for axis interpolation to adapting various setpoint sources such as speed or current commands, the optional I/O card is suitable for numerous applications. It also supports encoder simulation, step and direction input.

Using the I/O card offers a number of advantages, including flexibility and cost-effectiveness. In addition, it offers a wider range of sensors, enabling cost savings by using sensors with standard interfaces instead of typically more expensive sensors with fieldbus interfaces. Directly connected sensors result in shorter cycle times and fewer delays, improving the performance of closed-loop controllers. Additionally, small applications can be implemented without the need for an external programmable logic controller (PLC), simplifying the overall system design.

The I/O option card is compatible with all PSD1 product lines and offers a flexible design with one or two cards per drive. It features an encoder interface for input/emulation, eight switchable digital inputs/outputs and four analog inputs.

This new I/O option card expands the capabilities of Parker servo drives to suit a wide range of applications as distributed control systems with motion control and PLC functionality in the drive. The various inputs and outputs enable direct connection to sensors, support internal load control or serve as setpoint inputs for current or speed.

“The introduction of our I/O option card represents a significant advancement in the capabilities of our PSD1 servo drives, providing our customers with greater flexibility, cost efficiency and performance,” said Markus Gugel, Servo Drives Product Manager, Electric Motion and Pneumatic Division.

This latest enhancement reaffirms Parker Hannifin's commitment to providing solutions that support businesses across multiple industries. The I/O option card is available now and opens a new era of possibilities for drive control applications.
