For man-machine interactions with a low level of automation, manual shut-off valves are the first choice for controlling compressed air - and because of their ease of use, they are particularly advantageous in laboratory environments, but equally well suited for pneumatic applications across all industries. With the VHK-A series, SMC offers a manual shut-off valve in 2/2- and 3/2-way versions whose switching position is determined by turning the rotary knob through 90 degrees - and is immediately recognisable by the position of the rotary knob: open (parallel to the housing) or closed (across the housing).
Manual operation of the valve is literally a breeze and requires no PLC or electrical or pneumatic signal. This is particularly ideal for laboratory environments where processes need to be changed by hand quickly, frequently and as simply as possible. The 2/2-way valve version is also suitable for compressed air in the vacuum range, thus expanding the range of applications.
Powerful key figures for comprehensive applications
The VHK-A series from SMC has a maximum operating pressure of 1.0 MPa and - in the case of the 2/2-way valve - an operating pressure of -100 kPa to 1 MPa. The permitted ambient and media temperature is between 0 and +60 °C. The housing of the manual shut-off valve is made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT plastic), the rotary knob is made of polyoxymethylene (POM). The different colour coding of the rotary knob immediately indicates whether it is the 2/2-way (grey) or the 3/2-way variant (blue). Optionally, both variants can also be selected with a red rotary knob.
