Monitor axles safely and efficiently

The new motion monitoring module PNOZ m EF 1MM2DO of the configurable mini control system PNOZmulti 2 now also offers the functions cascading and delayed shutdown in the area of safe motion monitoring. With monitoring of up to eight safety functions on one axis, the new motion monitoring module ensures efficient drive applications and thus protects the production material as well as the machine.

In conjunction with the base unit PNOZ m B0 or PNOZ m B1, the PNOZ m EF 1MM2DO monitors an axis safely up to the highest safety category PL e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 or SIL CL 3 in accordance with EN IEC 62061. The module covers up to eight safe monitoring functions on one axis, e.g. safe stop, safe operational standstill or safe speed limitation.

Safe chaining of events

In addition to the two safe semiconductor outputs, the new motion monitoring module also has a cascading input and output. If the entire system enters the stop state, a delayed shutdown can be configured via this integrated cascading and linked to other modules. Advantage: If one module switches off, all linked modules are also switched off via the cascading. This controlled shutdown provides flexible but comprehensive protection for both the production goods and the machine, ensuring high machine availability.

Axis safety = production safety

Configuration for all the motion events that can be set up via the new module is carried out in the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool (from version 10.13): An independent module program (mIQ) is created for each motion monitoring module, which directly controls the safe digital outputs. The direct control enables a fast reaction time with a switch-off of the outputs below 12 ms. This means that an exceeding of parameterised limit values, for example an exceeding of the maximum speed, is reported immediately. In the event of a fault or a violation of protected areas or safe rooms, a safe and reliable reaction is initiated. The fast reaction time protects man and machine from consequential damage caused by the event.

Open for different motion scenarios

All commercially available incremental encoders can be connected via the industry-suitable, extremely stable Mini I/O interface of the Motion Monitoring Module using drive-specific connection cables. In this way, safe and efficient axis monitoring can also be retrofitted easily and flexibly for existing machines and systems.
