Safety interlocks

The world's smallest electronic safety interlock, the AZM40, now offers even more versatile application options with new accessories and new features. With dimensions of 119.5 x 40 x 20 mm, it is particularly suitable for small protective doors or maintenance hatches and confined installation spaces. Despite its compact design, the AZM40 achieves an impressive locking force of 2,000 N.

With the new locking tongs, the AZM40 can now also be used on larger, walk-in machines and systems. Service employees can attach a lock to the locking tongs when entering the danger area. This means that the door of the protective device cannot be closed and the machine is prevented from starting up accidentally.

In addition, the new versions of the AZM40 safety interlock can be expanded with an escape release or emergency release. Two different versions - with a lever or push button - are available. The lever is available as both an escape release and an emergency release and can be mounted directly on the AZM40. The push button is also available as an escape release or emergency release. Due to its similarity to an EMERGENCY STOP button, it can be operated intuitively. The escape release ensures that any people who may be trapped can free themselves from the machine area. The emergency release is used to ensure that the danger area in a machine can be reached quickly in an emergency - e.g. in the event of a fire.

The new "inner values" of the AZM include the addition of the high protection class IP69 and the temperature range from -20 °C to +55 °C, which open up additional application possibilities. Another plus point is the long service life with now 500,000 switching cycles (actuator cycles) or 1,000,000 switching cycles (locking cycles).

The bistable operating principle of the AZM40 is also sustainable, which brings with it the advantage of permanently lower energy consumption. Compared to monostable locking devices, this saves more than 50% of power consumption. Another advantage is the added safety: even in the event of a power failure, the protective door remains safely closed during dangerous follow-up movements.

Thanks to the 180° angle flexibility of the actuator, it can be moved continuously to the AZM40, so that the locking device can also be used on flaps that do not close at a 90° angle or flaps that open upwards at a 45° angle. The angle flexibility therefore helps to ensure that the locking device can also be installed without problems in areas that are not easily accessible.

The AZM40 can be easily mounted on standard 40 mm profiles without any overhang. For different profile system widths (20 mm, 30 mm, 45 mm, 50 mm and 60 mm), a set of two universal mounting plates can be used for the AZM40 and the actuator. This ensures quick and cost-effective installation for a wide range of profile system widths.
