Lenord+Bauer has developed a space-saving M12 threaded sensor that meets the special requirements of the heavy-duty vehicle market. Thanks to an optional standstill signal, it is also suitable for safety applications.
Qualified for vehicle applications, the single-channel thread sensors enable trouble-free operation of industrial and agricultural vehicles. They are used to measure the speed at the input and output of a drive. A permanent adjustment of the measured speeds protects the overall system, as a blockage of the drive train detected too late can lead to considerable mechanical damage to the drive components.
Electronic components are often supplied directly by the vehicle battery and must therefore be protected against overvoltage and voltage peaks. Interference immunity is tested according to the international standard ECE R10. The threaded sensors meet this specification and are suitable for operation on battery voltage thanks to high overvoltage protection. The robust sensors were developed for use in the harshest environmental conditions. The maintenance- and wear-free, magnetic measuring system in a stainless steel housing is insensitive to typical gear oils and also withstands shock and vibration.
With the optional standstill signal, it is possible to check the condition of the cable system and signal that the power take-off is ready for use. The sensor pulses a signal with constant frequency when switched on. It is therefore suitable for safety applications where the status of the sensor and the cabling must be checked before the application is carried out.
The threaded sensor is also suitable for speed measurements where the synchronicity of several axes must be ensured. Electronic controls in future axles directly driven by electric motors in agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles or other industrial transmission systems are conceivable.
