Simplify safety engineering

The new Baumer encoder EAM580RS in safety design, specially developed for mobile machines and outdoor applications, now simplifies safety engineering.

With the increasing automation of mobile machines, the need for safe solutions is growing, along with additional costs. Safety-certified components such as the EAM580RS absolute rotary encoder provide relief, as they reduce the effort and costs involved in implementation. With the EAM580RS, Baumer is one of the first manufacturers to already meet the latest functional safety requirements (SIL2/PLd in accordance with IEC 61508, ISO 13849:2023 and IEC 61800-5-3). This safety certificate simplifies and accelerates engineering and, in particular, system acceptance, as it greatly simplifies additional documentation. With the new EAM580RS, encoder and sensor specialist Baumer is expanding its encoder portfolio even further in safety-relevant fields of application.

Safe, robust, precise - specially developed for harsh outdoor applications

The EAM580RS is not simply the more robust version of an industrial encoder. This magnetic safety encoder has been specially developed for harsh outdoor applications and mobile machinery, for example in loading cranes, tower cranes and mobile work platforms. Safely protected from aggressive environmental influences and media under a stainless steel cover, it is also immune to shocks and vibrations. Maximum safety requires maximum precision and speed. The EAM580RS is characterized by top accuracy values combined with ultra-fast transmission rates. This enables significantly higher performance of the machines equipped with it.

Easy to configure, with useful additional data

In addition to the robust safety design, the EAM580RS offers the advantage of easy-to-use additional data. It provides information on revolutions, operating time and input voltage for machine monitoring and other purposes. The new Baumer encoder for mobile machines and other outdoor applications can be easily configured for a wide range of requirements using the free Baumer Sensor Suite software.

The EAM580RS is available immediately as a version with a clamping flange and with a hollow shaft flange from the first quarter of 2024.
