More compact, smarter, more efficient: The future of frequency converters

Control cabinets too full, commissioning too complex, energy consumption too high? The FR-D800 frequency converter from Mitsubishi Electric solves several of these issues at once. That's because it is compact, efficient, and easy to integrate.

When converters can do more than just drive

The success story continues: With 13.5 million units sold to date, the FR-D700 is Mitsubishi Electric's most successful frequency converter series. It is robust, reliable, and easy to use. Now comes the FR-D800, the successor model that incorporates all the strengths of its predecessor and adds key functions for modern production environments..

Small, practical, quick to install

The FR-D800 is up to 37% smaller*¹ than its predecessor. This reduces the space required in the control cabinet, lowers installation costs, and makes mounting more flexible. The new USB-C interface allows parameters to be set directly on the PC—even without mains voltage and without prior cabling.

Save energy without any extra effort

The series features synchronous motor control, which reduces energy consumption and operating costs. Complemented by a highly efficient motor drive and low standby consumption, the FR-D800 contributes to CO₂ reduction and supports sustainable manufacturing processes.

One converter for more motor types – up to IE5

Whether conveyor belts, pumps, fans, or machines—everything needs to be driven. The areas of application are diverse. The FR-D800 can control both induction and permanent magnet motors. This also applies to high-efficiency motors up to efficiency class IE5. This reduces the need for different types of converters and simplifies planning, warehousing, and maintenance. For users, this means less complexity, lower spare parts costs, and greater flexibility in application. Models with circuit board protection according to IEC 60721-3-3:1994 3C2/3S2 can also be used in harsh, corrosive environments.

Seamless integration into modern networks

The FR-D800 is compatible with CC-Link IE TSN, ProfiNet, Modbus/TCP, and EtherNet/IP as standard. This makes integration into industrial networks or digital manufacturing environments much easier.

Maintenance at a glance

The devices offer integrated lifetime diagnostics for capacitors and fans, as well as anomaly detection based on current patterns. In combination with the FR Configurator 2 software, potential problems can be identified at an early stage. In the event of malfunctions, analysis functions help to quickly rectify errors.

Various versions available

The FR-D800 series is available in single-phase 100 V and 200 V versions, as well as three-phase 400 V versions. Highlights at a glance:

  • Compact design – up to 37% smaller, easy installation thanks to USB-C and integrated cabling.
  • High energy efficiency – synchronous motor control, low standby consumption, sustainable operation.
  • Flexible motor control – one device for induction and permanent magnet motors, including IE5 efficiency class.
  • Network and maintenance friendly – support for common Ethernet protocols, integrated diagnostics and anomaly detection.

The FR-D800 combines compact design with modern motor control and high energy efficiency. This makes it a versatile component for digital and sustainable production environments.
