A clear commitment to the location

With a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, BPW Bergische Achsen KG marked the start of construction for a new production hall at its plant in Wiehl. Together with the developer, the architectural firm, the mayor of Wiehl, and the project managers, the transition from the planning to the implementation phase of the project was thus completed. With an investment volume of more than €25 million, BPW underscores its commitment to industrial value creation at its headquarters.

Milestone in the Optimization of Production Processes

On a usable area of approximately 7,000 square meters, existing production and logistics structures will be efficiently consolidated and future-proofed. The new hall will be specifically designed for the assembly of BPW trailer disc brakes, which are used millions of times worldwide and contribute to the safe and efficient transport of goods from A to B.

Sustainable and Efficient Energy Supply

The new production hall, scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2027, will include modern production areas and an efficient energy supply system. Among other things, around 30 percent of the roof surfaces will be equipped with photovoltaic systems, making a significant contribution to environmentally friendly energy generation at the site.

"With the largest modernization project in the company's recent history, we are sustainably strengthening our headquarters in Wiehl and creating opportunities for the future," explains Achim Kotz, personally liable managing partner of BPW Bergische Achsen KG. "The project is a clear commitment to Germany as a business location."

Wiehl's mayor, Ulrich Stücker, also emphasizes the importance of the construction project: "I am very pleased that this forward-looking construction project will secure the production site in Wiehl for the long term. This will not only strengthen the local economy but also create a long-term perspective for our city and its citizens."
