Bosch Rexroth and Xi'an IF Intelligent Equipment plan to join forces to develop and market electromechanical actuators (EMAs) for the global off-highway market.

Bosch Rexroth, a leading provider of drive and control technology, has been operating in China since 1978. Xi'an IF Intelligent Equipment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xi'an Huaou Transmission founded in 2001, specializes in the manufacture and distribution of ball screws and also produces electromechanical axes. The agreement to establish the joint venture, under the industrial leadership of Bosch Rexroth, was signed in Xi'an on January 26, 2026. It is subject to approval by various international antitrust authorities and other government agencies in China.

Bosch Rexroth, a leading provider of drive and control technology, has been operating in China since 1978. Xi'an IF Intelligent Equipment, founded in 2001, specializes in the manufacture and distribution of ball screws and also produces electromechanical axes. “The market for electromechanical actuators for off-highway vehicles is developing very rapidly in China and offers high growth potential worldwide. We want to be successful in this market from the outset. To achieve this, we need rapid product development at sustainably competitive costs. Our customers and our respective companies will benefit from combining our technical and sales expertise in electromechanical axles,” says Dr. Steffen Haack, CEO of Bosch Rexroth.

Xi'an IF Intelligent Equipment has already demonstrated its high level of technical expertise in the field of ball screws – the key component for electromechanical actuators. “This collaboration is not only a strategic partnership between two companies, but also a clear response to the current needs of our customers. Together with Bosch Rexroth, we are bringing a powerful, intelligent, and sustainability-oriented impetus to the global off-highway market, and we want to set a milestone on the path to a low-emission future for mobile applications. Together, we are creating solutions for our customers, our companies, and a sustainable future,” says Fan Yandu, CEO of Xi'an IF Intelligent Equipment.

The newly established joint venture will focus on the development, application, and final assembly of electromechanical actuators, developing its own EMA product lines consisting of components such as motors, motor controllers, and linear drives. Target industries include construction and agricultural machinery, mining equipment, and material handling. The joint venture will establish its own sales team and be responsible for sales in China. For international sales, it will utilize Bosch Rexroth's global sales channels. The headquarters will be located in Shanghai, and production will take place in Xi'an.
