Frank Kronmüller Is the New Managing Director at Ringspann StS
Frank Kronmüller, an experienced specialist in industrial drive technology, is taking over as CEO of Ringspann StS. Investments of up to 2.5 million euros are planned through 2030 to expand the Niedernberg site into a center of excellence for precision couplings.
More than 25 years of experience with couplings
After Ringspann merged the manufacturers StS Coupling and Steigerwald CNC-Technik - which it acquired in 2025 - into Ringspann StS, Frank Kronmüller will assume the role of managing director of the new company effective September 1, 2026. Kronmüller has more than 25 years of experience as a business development specialist and sales professional in industrial drive technology. He also brings product expertise and experience in international markets for shaft couplings. Under his leadership, the Niedernberg facility is to be expanded into a center of excellence for precision couplings with an international focus. A modernization project for manufacturing, design, and sales is already underway. Investments of up to 2.5 million euros are planned through 2030. “On the one hand, we will transform the shaft couplings from our own production into high-quality products that offer customers significant added value. We are exceptionally well-positioned to do so. On the other hand, we will turn the Niedernberg plant into a center of excellence for precision couplings with international reach. From here, we aim to shape industry trends and drive innovation in the future,” says Frank Kronmüller.
Precision Couplings Expand the Portfolio
With the integration of the new product line, Ringspann is expanding its existing range of shaft couplings. While this range was previously geared primarily toward heavy-duty applications with high torques, compact precision couplings for medium and low torque requirements are now being added. The lineup includes, among other things, elastomer and metal bellows couplings, as well as magnetic, intermediate-shaft, and safety couplings. With this move, Ringspann aims to tap into additional market segments and strengthen its position as a one-stop provider of components for industrial drive technology.
The company sees potential applications in automation technology, packaging technology, medical and measurement technology, as well as in printing technology, the semiconductor industry, and aerospace. Ringspann cites high torsional stiffness, compact design, and the ability to compensate for axial, radial, and angular misalignment as key features of the backlash-free precision couplings. “I have been familiar with both the competitive landscape and user expectations in these markets for decades. Since we are now moving closer to our customers through the well-established channels of Ringspann’s global sales network, I see excellent growth opportunities for us both nationally and internationally,” says Kronmüller.
