Improve competitiveness in important market
NSK, a global manufacturer of rolling bearings and linear systems, is to expand its R&D center and national headquarters in China. The ground-breaking ceremony was recently held in Kunshan near Shanghai. The new building will strengthen NSK's presence in China and further improve its competitiveness in this important market.
The expanded building is located in the Huaqiao Economic Zone in Kunshan. After the expansion, a total usable area of approx. 21,000 m2 will be available. Completion is planned for August 2024. The expansion of the site will be accompanied by the recruitment of new employees and the expansion of research capacities.
NSK's research and development activities in China provide technical support for projects, particularly for customers in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries. The expansion of these activities is part of NSK's medium-term management plan.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Yu Guoping, President and CEO of NSK China, said: "This expansion will enable us to develop technologies and products at high speed, with advanced methods and at competitive costs - in mechanical engineering and bearings for the automotive industry."
NSK's focus areas include the development of new technologies and products for the electrification and digitalization of the automobile and for autonomous driving. Other areas of application for new developments include CNC machine tools, high-speed trains, wind turbines, robotics and medical technology.
