New building
Laying the foundation for future-oriented automation solutions
With innovative product development and networked work environments, SMC is setting a clear example for sustainable technologies and the future of mechanical and plant engineering.
Construction at the SMC Campus in Egelsbach is progressing according to plan. A modern facility is being built on an area of approximately 32,700 square meters, uniting product development and the implementation of customized customer solutions under one roof. The current construction phase is laying the foundation for the future buildings, thus creating the basis for a project focused on sustainability and networking.
The campus will comprise several buildings, including a technical center, office and administrative areas, and a central complex that will also be open to customers. All units are designed to be interconnected. This concept is intended to facilitate exchange and collaboration among teams and ensure short distances for all employees.
With an investment of approximately 50 million euros, SMC is reaffirming its long-term commitment to Germany as a business location. “This project is more than just a construction project. It sends a clear signal for the future of automation in Germany and for our close partnership with our customers,” emphasizes Robert Angel, Managing Director of SMC Germany GmbH, SMC Austria GmbH, and Head of the SMC CEE Group in Central and Eastern Europe.
Timeline and Outlook
The new location will become part of SMC’s global network, combining practical development, on-site customer consulting, and technical training.
The planning is being handled by the architecture firm A°ID Architektur + Industrial Design from Groß-Umstadt. “SMC is a client with a clear vision. The collaboration is characterized by trust and openness – this enables solutions that make a real impact,” explains Robin Hellweg, Managing Partner at A°ID, adding: “The careful preparation of the site is the foundation for a campus that is both functional and sustainable.”
Completion is planned for 2028, coinciding with SMC Germany’s 50th anniversary.
