Expansion
Many locations, one quality
Reliable service and competent customer advice are core values at Mayr Antriebstechnik – worldwide. Therefore, the renowned family-owned company regularly invites its international colleagues and partners to Mauerstetten for an exchange. At the beginning of April, representatives from around 30 nations gathered to learn about new technologies, products, and processes. This year's focus was on the future topic of robotics. The company also announced an expansion: with the complete acquisition of EME Motor 2008, S.L., Mayr Antriebstechnik now has its own branch in Spain.
Whether in the everyday life of the future or already today in medical technology or industrial production halls – wherever the collaboration between humans and robots becomes more intimate, the potential for danger increases. If, for example, the power fails during a work process, the robot arm performing the work step must be held precisely and immediately to prevent injury to nearby people. Slim, lightweight robot brakes from Mayr Antriebstechnik ensure the necessary safety. With the Roba Servostop series, the company has developed spring-loaded brakes for servo motors that are specifically tailored to the demanding requirements of robotics – not only in industry, but also, for example, in medical technology. The company draws on over 20 years of experience from collaborations with renowned research institutions. The new standard modular system creates a high degree of flexibility for various installation situations.
International Exchange: Many Locations, One Quality
This became particularly clear during the numerous robotics application cases presented during the international sales meeting in Mauerstetten. The managing directors and sales managers of Mayr's branches and representatives worldwide came to the headquarters at the beginning of April 2025 to learn about the use of new technologies, products, and processes. Because customers on all continents should be able to rely on reliable service and competent advice, Mayr Power Transmission relies on motivated and highly trained employees to achieve this.
New Branch in Spain
During the event, the long-established family business announced an expansion: Following the opening of an Indian branch last year, Mayr Antriebstechnik has now expanded its international presence with a branch in Spain. After more than 30 years of successful cooperation in the Spanish market, the former sales agency EME Motor, S.L., became fully integrated into the group as a subsidiary, Mayr Transmisiones, S.L., at the beginning of 2025. This strengthens the Allgäu-based company's global sales network and opens up access to new growth potential in the region.
The current EME Managing Director, Oscar Moncàs Miralles, will remain in charge of Mayr Transmisiones, while CEO Ferdinand Mayr and CFO Christian Illig will be responsible for the business as directors of Mayr Antriebstechnik.
Laying the foundation for a new era in the region
"The brothers Pere and Òscar Moncàs Miralles, the founders and managers of EME Motor, approached us some time ago to discuss the future of our collaboration. For them, this also included the further development of their company," explains Ferdinand Mayr, CEO of Mayr Antriebstechnik. "In the subsequent discussions, an acquisition emerged as the best scenario for both sides. I see our new subsidiary, Mayr Transmisiones, as ideally positioned for further growth in Spain and Portugal. I believe that with this acquisition, we have laid the foundation for a new era in the region."
Focus on stability and continuity
EME Motor was founded in 1988 and has been distributing Mayr Antriebstechnik products in Spain and Portugal since the mid-1990s. Oscar Moncàs intends to maintain the extensive shared experience and, in some cases, long-standing customer relationships under the new banner: "It is particularly important to me to continue the successful sales work in the region, but also to offer our employees reliable prospects," says the Managing Director of Mayr Transmisiones. "The acquisition of EME Motor by Mayr Antriebstechnik ensures both. We have even already recruited a new employee for technology and sales – the growth path is well underway. I look forward to further strengthening the mayr brand in Spain and Portugal." Mayr Transmisiones currently employs four people at its Castelldefels (Barcelona) location, supporting customers in Spain and Portugal.
