The high-tech center Parque Tecnológico Innovación in Santiago de Querétaro, about 200 kilometers north of Mexico City, has gained a new innovation driver: Schunk opened its new location there in August, thereby further strengthening its global presence. The building, with a floor space of around 5,000 square meters, houses assembly and production capacities for the most important components and applications in order to offer regional and local customers specific solutions with particularly short delivery times. In addition, the engineering capacities will be expanded at the new location and the CoLab application center for automation technology and depaneling technology will be put into operation.
Industrial investment focus Mexico
Mexico is an investment focus for various key industries, especially in the automotive and electronics sectors. International companies are expanding their activities here or are planning to do so. Schunk is prepared to support them with suitable, efficiency-enhancing manufacturing technology as well as engineering expertise and advice. Marcos Sepúlveda, General Manager of Schunk Mexico, says: "We can now respond particularly quickly to the needs of customers across the American continent. In the future, we expect a higher demand for customer-specific orders, which we will now meet with a stronger local setup."
Rapid growth planned

In order to meet the expected strong demand and the local market with expertise in engineering, manufacturing and assembly, rapid growth is planned in the coming years. Kristina I. Schunk, CEO of Schunk, emphasizes: "The strategic expansion in Mexico not only strengthens our global presence, but also the future viability of our company. As in other regional markets, in Mexico we are committed to building a network of partners hand in hand with whom we can optimally serve our customers."
