Sieb & Meyer and Kissing Celebrate 20 Years of Collaboration

For 20 years, Sieb & Meyer AG of Lüneburg and Kissing GmbH of Hattingen have been collaborating on the distribution of drive solutions for high-speed applications. What began in 2006 quickly developed into a solid and highly productive partnership. Together, the two companies support machine manufacturers and users in demanding applications — ranging from machine tools to test benches, compressors, pumps, and turbines, all the way to ORC processes.

The collaboration emerged during a phase in which Sieb & Meyer was expanding its product portfolio and sales activities in the field of high-speed frequency converters. The company drew on its many years of high-speed expertise in printed circuit board processing, which it systematically applied to the machine tool market. Kissing contributed its strong market presence and close customer relationships in the machine tool market.

In the years that followed, the joint business continued to grow steadily. In addition to traditional machine tools, other high-speed applications were increasingly added. Technological milestones included drives for aluminum machining with power ratings exceeding 120 kW, high-speed drives with roller bearings capable of speeds up to 300,000 min⁻¹, and sensorless safety technology to meet the requirements of the European Machinery Directive.

Established Authorized Distributor for Drive Electronics

Today, Kissing is an established authorized distributor for Sieb & Meyer’s drive electronics in western Germany—its sales territory extends from the Saarland through Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Hesse to western Lower Saxony and the North Sea coast. This close connection to customers and markets provides important impetus for the further development of existing solutions. Going forward, the focus will remain on new industrial applications, energy-efficient drive concepts, and the ongoing optimization of existing high-speed applications.

“We particularly value the close collaboration and open dialogue with the Kissing team, as well as their expertise and proximity to our mutual customers,” emphasizes Markus Finselberger, Head of Sales for Drive Electronics at Sieb & Meyer. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude for this commitment. We look forward to many more successful years.”

Kissing, too, values not only its partner’s technological expertise but, above all, the personal rapport between the teams. “Sieb & Meyer possesses an exceptionally high level of expertise in high-speed applications and plays a pioneering technological role in several areas—such as sensorless operation of permanently excited synchronous machines or multilevel technology for high-performance applications,” emphasizes Thomas Faßbender, Managing Director of Kissing GmbH. “At the same time, we’ve seen a great openness to market feedback for many years. This has contributed significantly to the steady development of our joint activities.”

Synergies Through the Combination of Drive Electronics and Spindle Technology

A key aspect of the collaboration lies in the holistic approach to the drive train. “A spindle and a frequency converter are inseparable,” explains Thomas Faßbender. “Because we represent both Sieb & Meyer’s drive technology and the corresponding spindle technology, we can pursue a holistic approach together with our customers. This allows us to develop solutions for high-speed and machining applications in which all components work together optimally.”
