Siemens Consolidates Its Automation Business Under New Leadership

As part of its ONE Tech Company strategy, Siemens is consolidating Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control, and Process Automation into the new Automation unit. Rainer Brehm will become its president effective October 1, 2026. He will report directly to Cedrik Neike, CEO of Digital Industries.

Siemens is restructuring its automation business. Effective October 1, 2026, the four business units - Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control, and Process Automation - will be consolidated into a single organization. The new unit will be called Automation.

Rainer Brehm will take the helm. The Executive Board of Siemens AG has appointed him President of the newly established unit. Brehm will also assume the position effective October 1, 2026, and will report directly to Cedrik Neike, a member of the Executive Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Digital Industries.

With this reorganization, Siemens aims to consolidate core competencies in the automation business and further implement its ONE Tech Company strategy. According to the company, the goal is to help industrial customers transition to more flexible, productive, and resilient production systems.

Cedrik Neike sees the future of industry particularly in the convergence of automation, software, and artificial intelligence. The new Automation unit is intended to lay the groundwork for this and enable a faster pace of innovation, greater scalability, and tailor-made customer solutions.

According to Siemens, Rainer Brehm brings experience with the technologies, markets, and customers of the automation business. In his new role, he will work with the team to further develop the consolidated unit.
