Sieb & Meyer AG, Lüneburg, will be contributing its frequency converter technology to a strategic partnership with SKF Magnetic Mechatronics, Saint Marcel, France. Together, the two companies plan to develop new, high-performance drive solutions based on magnetically levitated high-speed motors. These sophisticated systems are used in applications including compressors, turbo blowers, and HVAC technology.

SKF will assume license manufacturing of the frequency converters for its systems at its international production facilities. The Lüneburg-based high-speed specialists will continue to be responsible for the design, control, and configuration of the frequency converters. The technological foundation of the collaboration is the multi-level converters from Sieb & Meyer's SD2M/SD4M series. The result: a solution "built by SKF, powered by Sieb & Meyer."

The collaboration with Sieb & Meyer will enable SKF to offer its customers optimized complete packages consisting of magnetically levitated high-speed electric motors and precisely coordinated frequency converters. These powerful plug-and-play solutions offer tangible benefits for machine builders and system integrators: less interface coordination, greater technical clarity, and, above all, optimal interaction between all components.

"The partnership between SKF Magnetic Mechatronics and Sieb & Meyer represents a powerful combination of expertise," explains Markus Meyer, CEO of Sieb & Meyer AG. "By integrating our innovative converter technology into SKF's high-speed motor systems, we deliver a smarter and more efficient solution that meets the evolving requirements of HVAC, compressor, and blower technology. Together, we are setting new standards in performance and reliability."

"Through this partnership, we are combining our expertise in magnetic bearings and magnetic systems with Sieb & Meyer's frequency converter technology, creating a new standard for high-speed motor systems. This enables us to offer our customers a holistic and highly efficient solution," says Frederic Ponson, Director at SKF Magnetic Mechatronics.

This will enable other industries to benefit from this integrated approach in the future. Among other things, the two cooperation partners are looking at boil-off gas (BOG) compressors and spindle drive systems.
