Cooperation
Strategic partnership starts
Sick and Endress+Hauser are putting their strategic partnership in the field of process automation into action: Sick's advanced gas analysis and flow measurement technology is now an integral part of Endress+Hauser's comprehensive instrumentation portfolio. The aim of the cooperation is to provide customers in the process engineering industry with even better support in increasing plant efficiency, protecting the environment and reducing their carbon footprint.
More products, new skills
As part of the strategic partnership, around 800 sales and service employees from Sick in 42 countries are moving to Endress+Hauser. As a result of the cooperation, customers in process engineering will receive more products from a single source and benefit from the increase in expertise in gas measurement technology. Endress+Hauser will use its global sales network to address new customers, reach additional industries and open up further areas of application.
Joint venture for development and production
Production and further development of gas analyzers and flow meters were carried out under the umbrella of Endress+Hauser Sick GmbH+Co. KG. Sick and Endress+Hauser will each hold 50 percent of the joint venture from March 1, 2025. It employs around 730 people at several German locations and will work closely with Endress+Hauser's product centers to drive product innovations and meet changing market requirements.
Seamless business transition
Hundreds of employees from both companies have spent the past few months preparing for the smooth transition of the business. The sales and service teams for gas measurement technology at Endress+Hauser are now ready; endress.com reflects the expanded range of products, solutions and services. Since January 1, 2025, Endress+Hauser has been the exclusive global marketer of Sick's gas analysis and flow measurement technology. In China, the transition will not take place until March 1, 2025 for technical reasons. In Turkey and Saudi Arabia, sales and service will be transferred to Endress+Hauser during the first quarter.
More successful together than alone
"We complement each other perfectly in this partnership," says Dr. Peter Selders, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group. "It creates new opportunities for growth and development, especially with a view to the sustainable transformation of the process industry. By joining forces, we offer our customers added value. Our joint efforts will make us faster and ultimately more successful than if we were alone. So in this case, one and one make more than two."
Opportunities for growth and development
"We are pleased that the strategic partnership for process automation is now starting. Together, we can support customers worldwide even better and lead them into a sustainable future with leading technology solutions. We are convinced that the transformation of the process industry offers enormous opportunities for growth and development, which we will make the most of as strong partners," says Dr. Mats Gökstorp, CEO of Sick AG.
Thanks to employees
Both CEOs express their thanks to the employees on both sides who made the establishment of this partnership possible. "Above all, we would like to thank all employees who have made the process automation division strong with their expertise and commitment and who will continue this success story with the strategic partnership," says Mats Gökstorp. "We look forward to building something new together with the people who come to us and to the joint venture and to making this partnership a success," adds Peter Selders.
Factory and logistics automation not part of the partnership
Sick is one of the world's leading solution providers for sensor-based applications for industrial applications. The company has 60 subsidiaries and investments as well as numerous representatives around the globe. It employs more than 12,000 people worldwide and achieved consolidated sales of 2.3 billion euros in the 2023 financial year. The core business of factory and logistics automation, in which Sick generates over 80 percent of its sales, remains unaffected by the partnership.
Family business with strong values
As family businesses, Sick and Endress+Hauser share similar values and a similar corporate culture. The German sensor manufacturer and the Swiss measurement and automation technology specialist signed a letter of intent for a strategic partnership in autumn 2023 and concluded a cooperation agreement in summer 2024.
Long-term cooperation
Sick and Endress+Hauser have already worked together successfully on orders, projects and customers in the past.Gas analyzers and flow meters are used primarily in waste incineration plants, power plants, steel and cement plants, in the oil and gas industry, in chemical and petrochemical plants and in shipbuilding. There they are of fundamental importance for tasks such as emission measurement in flue gas cleaning or flow measurement of natural gas and hydrogen.
