After the extensive development of the environmental management system, Jenaer Antriebstechnik (JAT) was certified according to the international standard ISO 14001. With this certification, the mechanical engineering company underlines its commitment to sustainability and undertakes to continuously improve the protection of the environment.
JAT's management initiated the establishment of the environmental management system and created the position of an environmental management officer. Since 2018, Frank Rohde has been working on the system as a quality and environmental engineer at JAT: "To take responsibility today for tomorrow, we are committed to sustainable development. We increasingly include ecological and social concerns in our actions."
JAT has been following this philosophy for many years. As early as 2010, the company erected green roofs for cooling on the production areas that were created. The technology complex, which will be completed in 2019, runs on a CO2-neutral basis. Geothermal energy is a sustainable alternative to the use of heating oil or natural gas. Tree-planting campaigns, job tickets and the establishment of bee colonies are examples of positive environmental contributions.
Overall, all actions are based on the quality and environmental guidelines of the machine manufacturer. The environmental management system ensures that JAT is aware of, monitors and complies with all requirements of environmental law. For example, when manufacturing products or disposing of waste, numerous laws of international, European, German and local law must be complied with.
With this certification, JAT is committed in protecting the environment.
