Sustainable building under construction

Delta, a provider of intelligent, sustainable solutions in power electronics, together with its construction partner Goldbeck, today broke ground on the construction of a modern development center with laboratory, testing, and research facilities in Emmendingen near Freiburg.

With this project, the company underscores its growth plans for the industrial and medical technology sectors, sets a signal for strengthening the Freiburg region, and fulfills its own standards for maximum energy efficiency in the construction of its own facilities. The state-of-the-art, two-part building, covering approximately 7,480 square meters, is expected to be completed in early 2027 and will accommodate over 200 employees. By implementing Delta's intelligent energy-saving solutions, it is intended to achieve the DGNB Gold standard.

New Location with Support from the Municipality

The expansion became necessary because the previous buildings in Teningen were no longer sufficient to accommodate the company's local growth plans. During the search for suitable premises, the Lerchacker industrial park in Emmendingen quickly emerged as the ideal location. There, Delta's plans to realize a forward-looking new building according to the highest sustainability standards received broad support.

Stefan Schlatterer, Mayor of Emmendingen, explains: “We are very pleased to welcome Delta, a globally leading provider of sustainable technologies, to Emmendingen. Delta's commitment to energy efficiency and intelligent infrastructure not only strengthens our local economy but also aligns perfectly with our vision of a sustainable future.”

Strategic Importance for Delta

Andreas Kostrzewa, Managing Director of Delta Energy Systems (Germany) GmbH, explains: “Delta's new regional headquarters demonstrates our strong commitment to Germany and the EMEA region.  Furthermore, the region, with its focus on sustainability and the principles of the circular economy, perfectly matches our values in the area of ESG. Highly qualified, multilingual professionals and a dynamic business environment are crucial factors for our long-term growth.”

Focus on State-of-the-Art Solutions

The building will offer approximately 7,480 square meters across three floors and create modern workspaces for the growing team. The plan is for the Industrial and Medical Business Unit to develop high-quality power supplies for leading medical device manufacturers as well as battery charging solutions – including inductive chargers for AGVs, AMRs, and forklifts – at this location.

The building is being constructed in close partnership with Goldbeck. The construction and service company realizes buildings quickly and economically while maintaining high standards for modern design. The plans include bright workspaces, a showroom for Delta technologies, laboratory areas, modern meeting rooms, and creative and relaxation areas. A climate control system with draft-free radiant heating and cooling ensures a comfortable working environment. Parking spaces and Delta charging stations for electric vehicles are also available.

Sustainability as part of the company's DNA

The building's roof will be fully equipped with solar panels, which are expected to generate over 270,000 kWh of renewable electricity annually – enough to completely cover the building's own energy consumption. In combination with energy-efficient architecture and Delta energy storage systems, the new building underscores the company's commitment to the highest environmental standards. The building is designed to meet the requirements of the DGNB Gold standard.

Alexander Musch, Sales Manager at Goldbeck, adds: “We are pleased to be implementing this forward-looking project together with Delta. Sustainability and energy efficiency are at the heart of our construction concept. With our experience in building modern corporate buildings, we are creating the foundation for Delta to optimally develop its innovative strength in Emmendingen as well.”
