Sustainability
The carbon footprint is getting smaller – also for the customer
Gefran is satisfied with its sustainability record for 2024. The manufacturer of components for automation and process control has made some progress in its commitment to environmental protection, social responsibility and innovation. For 2025, the company aims, among other things, to supply all of the group's operations exclusively with electricity from certified renewable sources.
25 percent less CO2 emissions compared to 2022 - this is Gefran's goal, which the company wants to achieve by 2030. Last year, it made some progress in this regard. The manufacturer continued to optimize its production processes by once again increasing the proportion of renewable energies in its power supply. In 2025, all 13 companies that belong to the Gefran Group worldwide are to source electricity exclusively from certified renewable sources.
Sensors increase vehicle efficiency
But Gefran also supports its customers in terms of sustainability. The manufacturer launched the miniaturized KM pressure probe, which enables the implementation of digital buses. The KMC sensor with digital CAN outputs was developed on this basis. The advanced sensor solutions record larger amounts of data. Used in the mobile hydraulics of agricultural, construction or material handling machines, for example, they contribute to the efficiency and safety of the vehicles.
Other measures of Gefran's sustainability commitment in 2024 were:
Production waste has decreased. By 2028, it is expected to have fallen by 30 percent compared to 2022. To achieve this, Gefran is relying on process controls and more effective materials from itself and its suppliers. The proportion of recycled materials has increased. By 2025, the proportion of recycled raw materials in 25 percent of all completed and approved product life cycles is expected to make up at least 30 percent of the product weight.
Employees were given more support. Gefran invested in further programs to promote well-being and professional development. The company also implemented measures to implement a diverse and inclusive work culture.
New sustainability report 2025
Gefran sees sustainability as a fundamental part of its corporate strategy. Since 2022, the company has been participating in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative and follows its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It has been recognized several times for an above-average ESG rating. In 2025, it will publish a new sustainability report in accordance with the new EU directive.
