ACE Stoßdämpfer GmbH, part of the Stabilus Group, is expanding its production of small and industrial shock absorbers in Germany. The ACE Magnum series industrial shock absorbers, considered by many engineers to be the gold standard, as well as the related ACE safety shock absorbers, are manufactured for the European market at Stabilus' main plant in Koblenz. The popular ACE MC150 to MC600 small shock absorbers are produced in Aichwald near Stuttgart at the plant of its sister company, HAHN Gasfedern GmbH.

Dr. Peter Kremer, Managing Director of ACE, stated: "With these measures, we are further strengthening our production in Europe and increasing added value, while making our customers, employees, and the company less dependent on global supply chains." He added that by 2025, more than 50 percent of the over 8,000 customers would be based in Germany, and that ACE's export share, particularly within Europe, has remained high for years.

ACE in Europe for Europe

Founded in 1963 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, as ACE Controls Inc., ACE Stoßdämpfer GmbH was established in Langenfeld in 1978, initially as a sales office. From this location in the Rhineland, the foundation was laid for the success story of adjustable and self-adjusting industrial shock absorbers in Europe, a success story that has continued since the 1980s. The Langenfeld engineering team subsequently provided significant impetus for the development of compact, high-performance miniature shock absorbers.

Dr. Peter Kremer: “Until a few years ago, these components were also produced for Europe in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine caused bottlenecks in material procurement, longer delivery times, and reduced availability. This taught us, firstly, that long-term partnerships pay off. And secondly, regional production prevents the problems that arose from the global supply chain. The lessons we learned and the progress we are now seeing in production in Koblenz and Aichwald will continue to help our customers and us in the coming years to provide the right components for every conceivable application in any desired quantity in a timely manner.”
