Portfolio expanded

With its CMFS (Condition Monitoring System with Fail-Safe Function), Nabtesco Corporation offers innovative technology for monitoring the azimuth system of wind turbines. Nabtesco Precision Europe GmbH, a member of the group, is now taking over sales and marketing, thereby strengthening its profile as a provider of forward-looking mechatronic concepts and data-based services.

Nabtesco Precision Europe GmbH is one of the leading international manufacturers of precision gears and is known for its high level of innovation and continuous development. The company, with its European headquarters in Düsseldorf, has always been committed to expanding its product portfolio and developing innovative applications. A particular focus is on mechatronic systems and data-based services.

Focus on mechatronic systems

"The combination of mechanics, electronics, control technology, and information technology is the key to forward-looking innovations and paves the way for novel functions and advanced applications. We want to support our customers in achieving their goals more quickly and are therefore continuously expanding our commitment,“ explains Marcus Löw, Managing Director of Nabtesco Precision Europe GmbH, adding: ”Taking over the sales and marketing activities for CMFS, a product from the Nabtesco Group, is a logical step for us to further sharpen our profile in this area."

The CMFS system protects wind turbines from failure

The Condition Monitoring System with Fail-Safe Function (CMFS) is a real game changer for the wind industry. It consists of four components—a screw strain sensor, signal converter, control unit, and power supply unit—and enables permanent, seamless condition monitoring of the azimuth system of wind turbines. Overload situations are reliably detected and an even load distribution is automatically carried out. All data is regularly sent to the cloud so that the user can obtain real-time information about the load conditions at any time via PC, cell phone, or tablet.

The decisive plus in safety

The high-precision strain sensor measures the external forces. These are processed and analyzed by the control unit. If the values exceed critical parameters, the control unit automatically reduces the load. What makes it special is that the CMFS not only works during operation, but also in phases when the azimuth drives are not actively moving. This unique added value provides a decisive plus in safety. The result: longer service life for wind turbines, maximum reliability, and significant cost reductions. Retrofitting in existing and new installations is possible without any problems.

Shaping the future

For more than 35 years, Nabtesco Precision Europe has been supplying modern high-tech applications with the optimal gearbox and drive strategy. The company is a global technology and innovation leader, the world market leader in robot gearboxes (market share of over 60 percent), and an experienced problem solver. The CMFS complements the range of mechatronic solutions with another future-oriented technology and further expands Nabtesco's position as a mechatronic system provider. “Mechatronic systems are the future. Our solutions make the difference,” sums up Marcus Löw.
