Nordac Fusion – Versatile combination options

Nordac Fusion combines asynchronous motors (IE3) and permanent magnet synchronous motors (IE5+)—available in both fan-cooled and non-ventilated versions—with a decentralized frequency inverter from the Nordac ON family. These optimized motor-inverter combinations cover a power range of 0.31 to 3.7 kW. They feature consistent safety and communication capabilities, are suitable for global use, and can be ideally complemented by a gearbox from the manufacturer's modular product range.

The decentralized frequency inverters are characterized by their compact design, full plug-and-play connectivity, and exceptional reliability. Key features include an integrated PLC and a multiprotocol Ethernet interface; protocols such as Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and EtherCAT can be easily configured via parameters. Integrated safety functions enable the safe operation of virtually all motion sequences in automated production. Enhanced Communication and Safety Functions

In addition to STO and SS1, the Nordac ON family will soon feature motion monitoring functions such as SLS, SMS, and SSM for safety-oriented control of rotary motion. These can be integrated into safety-oriented applications within existing Industrial Ethernet networks via Profisafe or FSoE.

Standalone operation is also possible. Safe digital inputs and outputs can be used to connect safety-oriented peripheral components or functions. This allows for the direct connection of devices such as emergency stop buttons, safety gate switches, or light curtains. Two safe single-channel digital inputs can be combined into a single safe dual-channel digital input, and two safe outputs into a single safe dual-channel output. This enables the level of functional safety to be individually configured for the Nordac Fusion as well.

Sensorless Control in Dynamic Applications

Another advantage is the sensorless control capability of the Nordac Fusion when used with the manufacturer's highly efficient IE5+ synchronous motors (PMSM). The CFC open-loop injection method allows the motor's rotor position and speed to be determined without the need for additional sensors. Ideal for demanding environments

The Nordac Fusion drive solution is suitable for use at temperatures as low as -30°C. The combination of IE5+ synchronous motors and the Nordac ON Pure unit with NXD tupH surface treatment is ideal for wash-down applications in the food industry, for example. On-board Ethernet, hybrid cables, and daisy-chain technology enable efficient, hygienic system layouts that are more streamlined and easier to clean than conventional decentralized cabling.
