The challenge

Due to Idnet's need for process-optimized digital tools such as pick-by-voice, pick-by-light and autonomous robots with electronic labeling capabilities, the hardware chosen for this
material handling workstation had to withstand daily use with minimal maintenance. Southco's height-adjustable monitor arms were needed to improve overall ergonomics and give the end user the ability to personalize their experience by easily adjusting the height, tilt angle and overall function of the application.

With Idnet's goal of "providing our customers with modern and future-proof logistics solutions," says Tomas Pettersson, Product Owner - Idnet, Southco's solution had to promise a high durability of the position control functions. In addition, it must function in such a way that the end user does not have to spend time re-adjusting the screen due to loose hinges or stiff structural properties.

The Solution

Southco proposed its AV monitor mounts, which allow intuitive and ergonomic positioning of the screen, allowing the operator to grip and move the screen without much effort. They also hold the touchscreen securely in any position and resist unwanted movement when in use.

When Idnet decided to introduce Southco's AV-D32 height adjustable arms to optimize its digital interface monitor, they were pleased to see that the application offers effortless movement across three different axes. The AV-D32-30V142-50 is a wall-mounted application, and its industry standard mount allows the end user to easily attach the monitor of their choice. Once the monitor is installed, it can be effortlessly positioned with 344mm of vertical movement to achieve an optimal viewing angle depending on the user's height.

Adding the AV-D40-33A144-50 single arm allows the monitor to tilt and swivel, reducing the risk of glare and user fatigue due to changing working conditions. Southco's tilt and swivel boom arms offer integrated positioning technology that allows the arm to work efficiently in the new workplace, which inherently requires durable hardware solutions that can withstand frequent use in high-traffic environments.

Additionally, the constant torque functionality of the selected AV-D32 and AV-D40 creates a user-friendly experience that is critical to Idnet's end-user ethos. With an arm that can withstand
strong touch forces, vibrations and heavy loads, the AV Series has proven to be the perfect solution. Southco's ergonomic solution reliably holds monitors of various weights in a neutral position.
