Michael Koch GmbH is presenting a new, safe braking resistor for mounting on control cabinets at this year's Hannover Messe.

The resistor's footprint, measuring 550 x 440 mm, fits directly onto the roof of standard control cabinets. Continuous power can range up to 8 kilowatts in 400-watt increments, which, at 35 times the braking power at one percent duty cycle and a 120-second cycle time, corresponds to a peak power of 280 kilowatts for 1.2 seconds. The resistance values range from less than one to several thousand ohms, allowing for a highly flexible adaptation to the electrical requirements of the drive and its braking transistor.

The supply cable is designed according to customer requirements. Its thickness and length are determined according to the application and can be sheathed for mechanical protection. The supply cable is connected in a spacious terminal box. Overall, a high degree of protection is achieved, making it suitable for use even in harsh environments. The safe add-on braking resistor can be equipped with a suitable touch guard, which brings the height to 275 mm. Without it, it is 252.5 mm high. Additional mechanical covers are also possible, allowing the safe braking resistor to be individually adapted to the ambient conditions.
