Gearbox specialist Neugart is expanding its NDF series: The application-specific planetary gearbox, developed for driving delta robot arms, will be showcased for the first time at automatica 2025 in Munich with the introduction of the new size 110. This innovation sets standards in precision and dynamics and optimizes performance for pick & place tasks in automated packaging lines.
Design details meet specific requirements

The Neugart NDF gearbox responds to the specific requirements of delta robots with numerous technical details: A clamping system with reduced inertia in the input stage enables extremely fast changes of direction, thus improving the robot's cycle rate and dynamics. The torsional rigidity and transmittable torque are significantly increased by the three specially designed planetary gears in the input stage and four in the output stage. A total of four two-stage gear ratios between i=22 and i=55 are available.

The output of the NDF also received special attention to optimally meet the specific requirements of a delta robot. The output gear ratio is i=5.5, allowing the transmission of very high torques. An optimized radial shaft seal ensures optimal shaft sealing during rapid changes in rotation direction.
Food-grade oil lubrication, a stainless steel output shaft, and a nickel-plated output flange are available as options, increasing the gearbox's corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
New milestone: The NDF in size 110

After Neugart successfully presented the NDF in size 090 in November 2023, the company is now taking the next step in the development and expansion of its product portfolio. From June 24 to 27, 2025, the NDF series, featuring the newly developed size 110, will be presented at the automatica trade fair in Munich.

This expansion of the product range is specifically aimed at arm drives for delta robots, ensuring the highest dynamic performance and precision. The new size 110 combines high torques, high torsional rigidity, low mass inertia and minimized torsional backlash – properties that Neugart customers worldwide value and that represent the company's advanced technology.
